Tight-Binding Model for Spontaneous Magnetism of Quantum Dot Lattices
We use a simple tight-binding model to study the magnetism of twodimensional quantum dot lattices with 1 to 12 electrons per dot. The results show that in the middle of an electron shell the lattice favours antiferromagnetism while with nearly empty or full shells ferromagnetism is favoured. The size of the antiferromagnetic region increases with the coordination number of the dot. A one-dimens...
متن کاملMultiband tight-binding model of local magnetism in Ga1-xMnxAs.
We present the spin and orbitally resolved local density of states (LDOS) for a single Mn impurity and for two nearby Mn impurities in GaAs. The GaAs host is described by a sp(3) tight-binding Hamiltonian, and the Mn impurity is described by a local p-d hybridization and on-site potential. Local spin-polarized resonances within the valence bands significantly enhance the LDOS near the band edge...
متن کاملVoltage-Controlled Entanglement between Quantum- Dot Molecule and its Spontaneous Emission Fields via Quantum Entropy
The time evolution of the quantum entropy in a coherently driven threelevel quantum dot (QD) molecule is investigated. The entanglement of quantum dot molecule and its spontaneous emission field is coherently controlled by the gat voltage and the intensity of applied field. It is shown that the degree of entanglement between a three-level quantum dot molecule and its spontaneous emission fields...
متن کاملCalculation for Energy of (111) Surfaces of Palladium in Tight Binding Model
In this work calculation of energetics of transition metal surfaces is presented. The tight-binding model is employed in order to calculate the energetics. The tight-binding basis set is limited to d orbitals which are valid for elements at the end of transition metals series. In our analysis we concentrated on electronic effects at temperature T=0 K, this means that no entropic term will be pr...
متن کاملIi-vi Semiconductor Quantum Dot Quantum Wells: a Tight-binding Study
We have developed a symmetry-based tight-binding (TB) method for calculating the electronic structure, exciton states and optical spectra in spherical semiconductor quantum dots (QD's). It is based on the semi-empirical sp^{3}s^{*} model, including thespin-orbit interaction. The TB parameters of the QD Hamiltonian are those used to reproduce the bulk semiconductor band structure. The surface da...
